About us

What is Life?

Life is nongovernmental and no profitable organisation for respect and care of animals, that stands for protecting the rights and general wellbeing of all animals based on foundations of contemporary achievement of civilised society.

From year 1999. we are members of RSPCA (Royal Society for Protection and Care of Animals), from year 2000. members of WSPA (World Society for Protection of Animals) and from year 2005. members of SSN (Species Survival Network).

Membership and collaboration with these organisations helped us in achieving our goal: building a proper shelter for abandoned and lost dogs in city Osijek.

Goals of our organisation

  • Improve protection of animals, prevent their abuse and free them of suffering in regions of Republic of Croatia
  • We attach special importance for advancement of legal protection on national level
  • Our goal is advancing educational programs and enhances peoples respect and responsibility towards animals, therefore to influence positively on government to legislate legal acts linked to animal protection

All of our actions confirm our aims in protection of animals:

  • saving the elephants from Brijuni zoo
  • international campaign for saving Sri Lanka's baby elephants and their movement to Osijek zoo
  • first Croatian campaign against killing chinchillas
  • international campaign "From Lithuania to Italy" against long lasting livestock transportation
  • fighting against hunting, larceny and fish larceny (Kopački Rit Nature Park)
  • food supplies for wild animals in Baranja after floods in year 2000.

Participation in conventions and presentations of our work are: WSPA , ICAWC , IFAW , CIWF .

Our collaboration with Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has resulted with new and first regulations in animal protection.
