Farm animals
Association for protection of animals Life believes:
- society must protect animals from well known sources of pain and suffering
- we must treat animals with attention and respect, as they are sensitive creatures
- protection of animals should be important task and propriety for civilized society and should in the future be much higher on the political agenda than it is nowadays
- violence is a basic mistake, regardless whether it is used on animals or for their protection.
WE ARE ASKING THE PRESIDENT, THE GOVERNMENT, MINISTRIES AND MEMBERS OF THE PARLIAMENT:
Conditions on the farms
The calves are separated from their mothers immediately upon birth,
then placed in tiny cages and forcefed with liquid food that lacks
iron. Pigs giving birth are kept in narrow metal boxes before and after
giving birth to baby pigs. Chicken used for eggs production (5 of them)
are being kept in space that is smaller than newspaper page- the iron
floor causes painful wounds on their legs and makes their feather fall
off. Geese are kept in cages and within couple of seconds half a kilo
of food is pumped into their stomach by hydraulic pump - this causes
heart and kidney failure and death rate on average 20 times higher then
normal. Europe has so far taken huge steps in order to ensure conditions
for animal protection.
Croatia did nothing.

Transport
Animals are transferred for several days in overcrowded and tiny space
without ventilation, food, water or rest. Sick and hurt animals are tied
with chains to the floor and during unloading their legs are tied, they
are lifted and taken down with a crane to and off the ships. European
countries and public opposes export of livestock to Arabic countries
because of inhumane slaughter, however we are proud of it. Croatia still
does not have the Rulebook on the International Transport nor has it
signed the European convention.

Slaughterhouses
Current secret testimonies and research guarantee that in many
slaughterhouses, animals are being stripped of their skins while still
conscious, they are torn apart, placed in hot water until they suffocate
in their own blood. The Law on Welfare of Animals from 1999 allows this
in slaughtering of all animals for private purposes. Croatia signed
the European convention on Slaughtering which obligates the signatories
to put animals to sleep prior to slaughtering - this is not the case
in Croatia.
DO YOU FEEL THIS SITUATION AND THIS LAW IS HUMAN?
People's health
World Health Organization warned that the use of antibiotics for cattle protection creates inability to fight or resist the pathogen organisms and causes humans to be subject to lethal diseases. European Union brought a Law to ban use of antibiotics for protection of animals.

Research prove that farm animals are one of the main producers of greenhouse gases and the biggest water polluters.
